Why Candid Photos Make the Day

Candid photos just plain make the day. Sure, formal, posed photos are nice also, but nothing beats the feeling of viewing a photo that's spontaneous or candid -- meaning, the subject is not expecting a photo to be taken. Or, the subject is asked to suddenly strike a pose, alone or with someone ... a moment that they were not expecting, meaning they did not have to think about having their picture taken ... it just happens.

This applies to families and friends in a home or at a gathering, but it also applies to candid shots taken at a business event. Candid photos provide a way for the company or organization to humanize the company, relating in a casual but professional way to its audience.

Shooting candid photos is not easy, however. Amateur photographers are often very disappointed with the candid photos they take ... maybe one shot in 25 is good. It takes a pro, with a very good eye and a way of putting the subject at ease, to capture truly good candid photos.
